Women throughout the world – regardless of their culture or ethnicity – have one thing in common – the natural ability of their bodies. At the onset of puberty with the beginning of our menstrual cycle, our ovaries begin producing eggs and hormones to support reproduction; it is a cycle that continues throughout our reproductive years. However, menopause, generally occurring anywhere between a woman’s mid-forties and mid-fifties, puts an end to our ability to reproduce. The symptoms that accompany this transition of life cause many women to actively seek out effective menopause relief.

Menopause, when it occurs naturally, generally happens over the course of several years. In some cases, in a surgical situation that requires the removal of the ovaries, menopause may be medically induced. In either case, menopause is defined by the permanent cessation of the menstrual cycle; the ovaries slow their production of eggs in addition to slowing their production of estrogen until, eventually, both come to a stop. Estrogen – the hormone that supports menstruation and pregnancy – can make its absence particularly known with the experiencing of a variety of symptoms. Some of the more common side-effects of menopause include hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain, memory loss, sleep disturbance, loss of sexual desire, and mood swings including irritability and bouts of depression. Menopause relief – in some cases – can minimize or even alleviate these symptoms.

Menopause relief can be found through a variety of natural remedies. Some woman find relief through the implementation of a healthy diet that focuses on whole, natural foods and minimizes – if not eliminates – foods that are fried, processed, and high in salt, sugar, and saturated fats. Other women find that a consistent exercise program – such as yoga, Pilates, or stretching - helps them to find menopause relief.

In some cases, women find menopause relief through holistic therapies such as acupuncture, therapeutic massage, and chiropractic work. In more severe cases, woman may only find menopause relief through medical treatment wherein a doctor prescribes particular hormone therapies. The research, however, is still unclear about the long term consequences of these drug therapies; it is prudent to try as many natural therapies as possible before turning to medical intervention.

Ultimately, menopause relief comes down to what works for each woman specifically. Not every woman experiences all menopause symptoms. And when they are experienced, no two woman experience symptoms in the same way. Menopause relief should be tailored to each woman’s personal experience.
